Semple Fest

So not too much news lately, except for this fantastic weather! I think this happened last year, when the only time it was actually nice, we needed to be studying!

Anyway, yesterday all I did was chill in the sun. I was lying in the plaza for almost 3 hours. I got a nice tan, but somehow managed to burn the inside of my ankles really badly (you try and figure that out). I'm not burnt anywhere else.

We had our end of the year party for water polo w/ all the awards. We walked through semple fest, which is a college block party w/ people everywhere, the sidewalks, the street, on roofs, you name it. It was insane, but we went off to our party, which was great (and free). I owned the beerpong table w/ mike for about 5 rounds and I eventually left 'cause my sunburned feet were killing me (I won best resident alien and unofficial Best Dressed).

I actually got work done this morning. I did my Staffing final and went through the Managerial accounting review. There's a review for it tomorrow at 2pm, definitely going to that. All I have left to do is study more for my two finals on Monday and Wednesday and my interview analysis, which I'll probably do after writing this.

It sucks having most of your friends in college works because they're all busy as hell when you want to hang out. It's kinds funny looking in from the outside.

I got my financial analysis today, it's really impressive, tons of pages that are going to help me. My debit card finally arrived, but of course they sent it home, even though I told them to send it here, to Pitt.

One of the guys is looking at the house in DC today, so hopefully that goes well and we get everything organized. I'm so close to getting everything setup and paid for, I'm honestly just trying to do as little as possible until May 7th because the rest of my year is going to be nuts!

Viva Las Vegas!

So this week was my trip to Vegas with College Works.

We left at 8:30am on the day that my camera arrived, so no camera for the trip (it was sitting at my door when I returned). I had about 1 sq ft. of space in the car because McFresh (Kevin) brought an enormous bag with him. We got to the airport and Kevin was the only one that had to check a bag, and also the last person on the plane. Brent, Jack and I got McDonald's breakfast, but they were running late, so I ordered for them and they ran for their plane. When I finally got to their gate with the food, they had already boarded. I asked the ticket guy to take it on the plane, he said sure (I was not on their flight because I used my free ticket and couldn't get the direct flight). The ticket guy then called for Kevin, who came sprinting out of the distance. Kevin ran on the plane and took Jack and Brent's food with him.

I got on my plane which was going to Phoenix via Midway on the same plane. When we landed in Midway we had a change and had to get on a different plane. At this moment I achieved a life goal of mine, First Passenger on the plane! Then it was off to Phoenix where I sat for less than an hour. I got into LV and the baggage area was insane, a huge open floor, just like a casino. I found my shuttle and waited to get to Hotel Excalibur (the Castle). Got to my room and no one was answering their phones, so I knew they were at the pool. I double checked and then went upstairs to change and come back to the pool. Most of the day was spent just hanging out drinking from $20 12 packs.

We went to club LAX that evening and it was quite a blur. We had pregamed pretty hard and the club was incredibly packed (and stingy). After being threatened a few times, we got in and tried to get into the vip section, but no guys were allowed, so stupid. I somehow spent $100 that night and had Lulu shoving water in my face. Jack and Sam managed to lose their wallets, etc. Sam ended up finding hers, Jack is not so lucky. The next morning we had a great breakfast and a lot of meetings.

Thursday night was wonderful. We all got into massive Limo's (Hummers, etc.) and went to Buca de Beppo's. First time for me, honestly, the food was not that good, but you can't complain about free food. But there was plenty of it, along with alcohol. There was a lot of forced chugging going on, mostly initiated by Lulu. One guy was really fast, he beat me by about 1 second. After that it was off to Rum Jungle, a great club where we had the entire VIP section. Two words can explain this night OPEN BAR, not a great idea, haha. I was ordering everything I could never afford, so I dropped off the edge after a good while.

I woke up friday morning to an alarm in my clothes. I changed my shirt and went to breakfast. Dad left me a message saying the they would put up some money for me to do a helicopter trip. I made sure it was OK with Lulu, then went to beat down Jack's door because he was suspiciously absent. I finally woke Jack up and helped him pack. I made my way to the concierge desk and asked about the trip.

The lady at the desk was fantastic. Really friendly, attentive, just great. The basic trip was $360, a lot more than I was expecting, but the timing was perfect. I ended up getting a free upgrade to the picnic trip, which cost $80 more. I tried my credit card, but my available credit wasn't enough, I tried to figure out how this could be done w/o a debit card. Then I remembered the random $150 more I had found in my wallet that morning (more on this later). I split the price into credit and cash and was off.

The limo picked me up at 10:15 (it was late) and took us to the airport. We stayed there for a while and watched the safety video (fun...). Pete was our pilot and after flotation things and seat belts, we were off. We actually had to pause so that a plane that takes Area 51 employees back and forth could taxi.

I don't know what it is, but helicopters make any music better, we started with Austin Powers, then Top Gun, etc., etc., etc. It was incredible, a little uncomfortable, but incredible. We went over the Hoover dam, through the Grand Canyon for 10 miles, and then landed...in the canyon. We had our picnic with champagne and I took some pictures with my phone. Any direction you pointed you camera was an amazing photo. After standing on the edge of a cliff and just being in awe of everything around me, we took off and headed back. We went down the strip, getting a great view of the hotels and casinos.

I walked back into the conference room with 30 minutes left. Spencer Pepe was giving his emotional speech, so I stood on the side. After that, we had a team meeting and went to the Rotunda to get picked up.

We hung out in the airport, I played a few 25 cent slots, and Brent slept on the floor because he was in such terrible condition. We got on the plane and besides a short spell of some serious turbulence, made it back 5 minutes late. We waited forever for the last parking shuttle and I got home eventually around 2:30am. Of course my camera was at my front door, so I played with it for quite a while.

Yesterday I started doing work and eventually hung out w/ Jack. We went to the waterfront and I went to Lowes to get materials for the beer pong table. This is where I found out where my money came from. Brent called me and found out that when we were really far gone, we ran into each other and Brent gave me $150 of his winnings. The problem was that neither of us remembered, so he thought he lost a lot and I thought I gained a lot. Funny how things work out. I made the table behind the house, the super glue wouldn't work, so I just bolted it together. It's not good enough yet, but I'm going to support it with a few 2x4's and then it should be good.

Only 1 week of school and then 2 finals, it's getting really close to the summer, I can't wait!!!

Wonderful Weather

So the weather here at Pitt has finally taken a turn for the better! The last two days (including today) have been gorgeous.

Joseph brooks is going to tell me if he's going to sublet my apartment for the summer, which would mean that I need to kick myself out of my apartment at the end of finals.

Tonight is Jack's birthday. I actually called his mom to ask what his favorite food is, so I'm going to make him lasagna, partly because I already have the pasta for it. We're gonna go down to south side to the bars, which should be great.

Earlier today I got fucked by Delta airlines. I realized that I had booked my flight a day too late (i do that a little too often), so I called them to change the date. After a few loops, i finally got to someone that could help me, and she enlightened me to the fact that the change fee on the ticket I had bought was $100 and the cost of the ticket was $94, thus making the ticket worth absolutely nothing!!!! Needless to say I was pissed, why the hell would you have a policy where if you have to change the ticket, even by a few hours, it becomes worthless. It as absolute bullshit. So I managed to waste $94, may as well have just lit it on fire! I just don't get it.

As a result, mom was going to pick me up from JFK and them drive down to Perryville where a train goes into DC for liek $11. Of course, the one day that I am traveling is Memorial Day, so the train isn't running, fantastic. So now everyone has to come along so that mom doesn't die of driving forever. It least we can make a trip out of it and I'll get to see Oma (yay!).

I'm going to have to pack for me entire summer before it even starts because of the time constraints. The family is coming up to Pitt on May 3-4 and I can finally have a drink with mom and dad (i really want to take them to the church brewery, if i can find it). Kristen might be coming with, considering that she's coming to Pitt in the fall. They're going to take some of my stuff home so that it will be ready to go when I get back.

I just have to get through classes today and tomorrow, and then it's off to Las Vegas, baby! It's going to be crazy. I still don't know what my story is going to be for how I got there without making ppl mad. Oh well, I'll figure it out soon enough.

I also have an appt with the head of the MIS department tomorrow to help get this independent study going before the semester is over.

The Greatest Summer Ever!!!

My summer: 19 flights, 46,000+ miles, 5 countries, paid internship in DC, the Olympics

I have just finished organizing the time of my life.

Starting My 7th, I will be on a jet setting, one-in-a-lifetime experience. I will describe it in more detail in the future, but I plan on documenting my experiences from now until then, so it should be interesting!
